Thirteen years down the road, Atlantic Station is in the process of better adapting to the city of Atlanta’s modernistic and evolving context. With the vision to build a city within the city, this transformation project focuses on reinventing the mixed-use development’s Central Park as well as its connectivity with the surrounding community. The key to this project’s success is in promoting a more human-scaled and connected visitor experience at the street-level, encouraging users to create authentic experiences. Upon completion in April of 2019, Atlantic Station will become an invaluable facet of the continued modernization and development of Midtown Atlanta.
Shoppers, residents and visitors can look forward to numerous upgrades, including a large, open pedestrian-only center greenspace protected by a 45-foot tall curved canopy. A welcome staple to the center area is a pop-jet water feature along with a massive, stadium-like LED screen, inviting users to dwell a while longer and watch live events and movies. Along with the connectivity provided by the reorganization of transportation and roads, the newfound pedestrian safety aids in expanding the site’s retail and hospitality platforms another 6,000 square feet.
