Wesleyan School - Warren Hall Reading Garden

Wesleyan School - Warren Hall Reading Garden

Progressive educators have long extolled the virtues of outdoor spaces as places where children can explore, engage and learn as they play. A lower school building expansion allowed HGOR to re-image the outdoor learning environment as an extension of the library. In order to spark imagination among both teachers and students, seating areas were designed to look like book spines, and the names of popular children’s books were inscribed on pavers.

The immersive experience is a place of whimsical wonder that appeals to kids of all ages and encourages a love of learning and an exchange of ideas. The garden alters perception and changes interaction, as books become walkways, benches, walls, and a gateway.
